 Responding to state and national needs

The Center for Integrative Natural Science and Mathematics (CINSAM) was established at NKU in 1999 as a Program of Distinction in the Commonwealth of Kentucky. CINSAM's vision is to facilitate NKU becoming a nationally recognized leader in Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) education and scholarship.

CINSAM's mission is to improve P-16 STEM education by advancing and integrating teaching, learning and scholarship in the STEM disciplines. CINSAM has 3 major goals, each of which relates directly to NKU's 2012-2014 Integrated Strategic Plan titled Points of Focus:

1. Facilitate the recruitment, retention and graduation of STEM students (Points of Focus 1,2,4).
2. Promote faculty scholarship and undergraduate research in STEM disciplines (Points of Focus 1,2,3).
3. Enhance the teaching of science and mathematics at P-16 levels (Points of Focus 1,2,3,4,6).
