CINSAM
Responding to state and national needs
The Center for Integrative Natural Science and Mathematics (CINSAM) was established at NKU in 1999 as a Program of Distinction in the Commonwealth of Kentucky. CINSAM's vision is to facilitate NKU becoming a nationally recognized leader in Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) education and scholarship.
CINSAM's mission is to improve P-16 STEM education by advancing and integrating teaching, learning and scholarship in the STEM disciplines. CINSAM has 3 major goals, each of which relates directly to NKU's 2012-2014 Integrated Strategic Plan titled Points of Focus:
- Facilitate the recruitment, retention and graduation of STEM students (Points of Focus 1,2,4).
- Promote faculty scholarship and undergraduate research in STEM disciplines (Points of Focus 1,2,3).
- Enhance the teaching of science and mathematics at P-16 levels (Points of Focus 1,2,3,4,6).
