CINSAM Director Position Information
The Director is responsible for the overall programmatic, administrative, scholarly, and fiscal leadership of the Center for Integrative Natural Science and Mathematics (CINSAM).
The Director will:
- Manage CINSAM personnel including recruitment, development and evaluation of staff members.
- Oversee the CINSAM budget.
- Administer and enhance existing programs, plan and implement new programs. Current programs include:
- Annual Research Grant competition
- Coordination of CINSAM Scholarships with other scholarships for science, mathematics, engineering, education, and technology students.
- Responsibility for the Integrated Science courses.
- Extensive programs of outreach in mathematics and science to students and teachers in the region’s schools
- Seek external funding (grants, federal earmarks, state funds) to support programmatic enhancements.
- Serve as a campus-wide advocate for natural sciences and mathematics and work collaboratively with CINSAM-related departments to assist them in achieving their goals.
- Maintain and develop external connections, collaborations, and partnerships both locally and statewide. This includes establishing and maintaining relationships with local schools and their administrations, with local scientific and engineering businesses, with other state universities, and with statewide agencies and boards such as the Kentucky Academy of Sciences and Kentucky EPSCoR.
For purpose of administrative oversight and support, the Director of CINSAM reports to the Dean of the College of Arts and Sciences.
